With over 50,000 games to choose from, Steam is one of the best digital game distribution services in the world. In addition, more than 20 million users are logged in at peak times on the platform.
You can track your progress while buying games online and playing them. Additionally, you can communicate with your friends using the built-in chat feature. Considering that the Steam client is running in the background of your computer even when you are not playing any games, it will appear online if you are invisible or do not turn off the chat.
Appears Offline
Since there are so many on Steam at any given time, some of your friends will find you online and attack you to see if you want to play. If you try to work on your computer, getting chat messages will ruin your concentration.
To prevent such a situation, follow the next few steps to make yourself invisible in Steam Chat.
- Open Steam on your computer and sign in if necessary.
- Click the “Friends” tab from the top menu.
- Next, select “Invisible” from the drop-down menu.
You will now appear offline to everyone on Steam. However, you can still chat if you want.
If you choose offline mode in the third step, it will completely disconnect you from friends and chat. To re-enable chat, click “Friends & Chat” from the main menu, and on the next screen, click “Sign In”.
You can appear offline using this shortcut when you’re using chat but the Steam main window isn’t visible:
- In the chat window, click the down arrow next to your profile picture.
- In the menu that appears, select the “Invisible” option. Select “Offline” to go offline.
The most popular games on steam
The valve generated steam many years ago. As a game developer, the company developed one of the most popular games of Half-Life. The 1998 hit game became famous for its single player campaign like its catchy movie. As such, Half-Life has never had multiplayer mode.
However, a couple of enthusiasts developed their own mod that can be played on multiplayer using the game editor that came with Half-Life. One year after the release of Half-Life, Counter-Strike was born. Counter-terrorism and counter-terrorism groups confronted each other and counter-attack plunged the world into a storm.
Today, the game’s latest remake is called Counter-Strike: Global Attack, and it’s the most played game on Steam. With a regular peak of over 850,000 players on Steam, it significantly surpasses the Tota 2, which receives more than 600,000 players at significant intervals.
Unlike Counter-Strike, Tota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) set in the fantasy world of sword, magic and monsters. It is noteworthy that Valve also developed and released the Tota 2.
With about 160,000 players at maximum moments, third place went to Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. This is an online tactical sniper game created and released by Valval. Described as the fastest multiplayer action game, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch has a new look at their previous Deathmatch game.
The sequel to Half-Life offers even more action-packed fun for fans of the original.
Staying down the radar
You can now focus on your work without distractions when using Steam chat’s “invisible” and “offline” features. Of course, this will help you focus while playing your favorite games, especially Counter-Strike: High-octane first-person shooters like Global Attack.
